GEORGE VELMER
George Velmer has built a career on making things sound exactly the way they should — powerful, intentional, and unforgettable.
Born into a musical family, George’s fascination with sound started early. His father challenged him with a violin at a young age, and it was immediately clear that George had a rare ear. He wasn’t just playing notes — he was interpreting emotion. Encouraged by his teacher to perform publicly, George’s musical future looked bright. But when family finances grew tight, his formal lessons were cut short. What didn’t stop, however, was his passion.
From that moment forward, George became a student of sound in the purest way — self-taught, intensely curious, and committed to learning by doing. He immersed himself in music from around the world, captivated by the orchestration of Yugoslavian ensembles, the grit of underground recordings, and the clarity of broadcast audio. He wasn’t just listening; he was dissecting, analyzing, and rebuilding sound in his mind.
As the years passed, that obsession became mastery.
George went on to work behind the scenes in studios, on sets, and in edit bays — always improving, always innovating. He didn’t just engineer audio; he built workflows, developed new restoration techniques, and consulted on sound environments from scratch. His fingerprints can be found on a wide range of creative works, from music albums and indie films to broadcast content and branded media.
Today, George is the creator of the Velmer Guardian, a mastering and audio restoration toolkit designed to help engineers, producers, and creators achieve pristine, emotionally resonant sound. It reflects his lifetime of learning and his commitment to empowering others in the field.
But George doesn’t see his work as just technical. To him, sound is emotional. It’s spiritual. It’s legacy.
“I mix with my ears, but I design with my heart. Every project I take on has to move people. That’s the standard.”
When you work with George Velmer, you’re not just hiring an engineer — you’re partnering with a lifetime of sonic storytelling.
